SATELLITE
SATELLITE - Onboard equipment of radio electronic protection of the aircraft against high-precision radar guided weapons.
The operating principle is based on creating interference to the radio electronic means of weapon control of radar-guided sighting systems and anti-aircraft missile systems.

  • Objects of counterstand: antiaircraft systems of interceptors (pulse-Doppler), radars of antiaircraft systems and radio guided missiles;
  • Work mode – automatic (without interception of protected aircraft);
  • Protection sector – ±60° by azimuth and ±45° by elevation into front and rear semi-spheres;
  • Maximum power – 10 Watt (40dB mW);
  • Wavelength range – Х(I), possible to adjust to frequency ranges – C(G,H), Ku(J);
  • Level of effective protection – no less than 0,9;
  • Weight of each container – 50 kg max;
  • Power supply from onboard net 27V, power consumption – no more than 500 Watt;
  • Time of continual work – not less than 3 h.;
  • Time of equipment’s readiness after launch – not more 3 sec.;

STRUCTURE OF THE EQUIPMENT

The “Satellite” equipment consists of:
CONTROL AND DISPLAY PANEL
CONTROL AND DISPLAY PANEL
Control and display panel is located in pilot’s cockpit and designed for equipment control in flight and in the course of operation. It provides:
  • capability to select jamming mode (constant operation, automatic activation, disabling);
  • showing the information to the pilot on measured power level of exposed signal (ranging signal) into the front and rear hemispheres in the form of two light-emitting diode lines glow;
  • initialization of built-in test control mode of item’s technical condition and demonstration of results;
  • indication of failure point with an accuracy up to the unit.

Transmission circuit of front hemisphere is located in the front part of container. Reception circuit of rear hemisphere is located in the rear part of container.

LOCATION OF THE EQUIPMENT

Containers are located at two suspension points. Structurally each container represents a transition beam which allows using the specified detachable armament.

RADIO PROTECTION SYSTEM OPERATION

Effective radio protection of the aircraft is achieved due to jamming of deflection channels of interceptor and antiaircraft missile system radars or a missile homing head.
Jamming creates discreet guided creeping of angle measurement systems, which leads the missiles to:
  • appearance intensive acceleration;
  • distortion of flight track;
  • decreasing of duration due to consume of energy;
  • increasing of current and final miss.

MAINTENANCE OF THE EQUIPMENT

While using the equipment “Satellite” there is no need in specific works on maintenance.
In preparation for the flights there is no use of testing and checking equipment, only means of inboard control without dismounting are used. When malfunction appeals, the incorrect unit is detected and substituted to the correct one. The record of flight data is possible by the equipment.
