An official ceremony marking the transferring of 10 MiG-29 aircraft (8 MiG-29 and 2 MiG-29UB aircraft, overhauled at JSC “558 ARP”) to the Air Force and Air Defence of the Republic of Belarus took place at Baranovichi airfield on 01 December 2015. Aircraft underwent the second overhaul and one aircraft was repaired for the third time. The chief-engineer – first deputy director of JSC “558 ARP” Andrey Tuchin noted: “there’s no any other country and plant where aircraft underwent the second overhaul”. JSC “558 ARP” has rich experience in repair, modernization, complex logistic support of MiG-29 aircraft. For the period from 1994 to present moment overhaul recognitioning 148
of such type of aircraft is performed including:
- on 30 aircraft the second scheduled repair performed;
- on 1 aircraft the third scheduled repair performed.
For the first time ever the second scheduled repair of MiG-29 aircraft performed at JSC “558 ARP” in 2008. Based on research findings of technical condition of the first MiG - 29 aircraft which were accepted for the second scheduled repair at JSC “558 ARP”, jointly with specialist of company-designer of the aircraft (JSC “Russian Aircraft Corporation “MiG”, Russian Federation, Moscow) technical documentation for the second scheduled repair performing was developed. At present moment JSC “558 ARP” performs the second overhaul of MiG-29 aircraft in series with design-engineering support of company-designer of aircraft, executing all the bulletins and technical requirements, which are necessary for assigned service life extension.
